Through The Porthole - Day 0

We set off today, but the trip hasn't formally begun, so they call it Day 0. The organisation on arrival at the cruise terminal was first class. Drive here, park there, let me help you with your cases (we didn't see them again until they were delivered to our cabin), hand over the car keys, and walk into the terminal building.

A quick check of passports, PLFs, and Covid vaccination certificates, and we were aboard! Time to download that Hurtigruten app and check the program of events for the rest of the day. Mandatory safety briefing at 1.45pm. Sail away cocktails at 2.45pm. And best of all, our meet-and-greet session with the Astronomy team at 5pm.

Which leaves plenty of time to stop off at the Fredheim restaurant for our first milkshake of the trip. Cloudberry flavour!

By the time we'd finished those our cases had been delivered and we could find nooks and crannies in the cabin for all our gear, give the phones a quick charge, and meet our maid, Anna.

Since we're still in port, today's view is nothing more exciting than the famous White Cliffs, and Dover Castle. That will change soon enough!
