Through The Porthole - Day 1

A sailing day, so today's view is a little empty. The sea has calmed down a lot though, since this morning. These waves are only 1-1.5m, imparting a gentle rocking motion much more conducive to eating lunch, and significantly less barfworthy than the 3.5m versions that woke us at 4am and kept us away from breakfast!

The day was largely spent preparing us for making landfall tomorrow afternoon in Egersund. Arranging the rest of the trip's Astronomy-orientated events and excursions (we have our own, dedicated tour guide who is half Norwegian and has promised to take us on extra tours that delve deeper into the history and local detail of wherever we stop), and listening to our first Astronomy lecture: the mythology of the Northern Lights, and how it was gradually replaced by science over the course of almost 3,000 years.

Dinner tonight was once again in Aune, but this time the buffet had been replaced by an a la carte service. We both made the same choices...

Shrimp salad from Norwegian cold waters, cucumber, mayonnaise relish, fried capers and cocktail sauce.

Beef tenderloin, baked root vegetables, pumpkin puree and red wine sauce.

Caramelised apples, sour cream, crumble, and hazelnut ice cream.
